BeautyBox5 August 2014 Review

Hey guys,

This is my first time receiving a beauty box and doing a review.
Boxes are all the rage these days and so of course I have to jump onto the bandwagon :)
I actually wanted to try Topbox or IPSY but they both have waitlist.
I was lucky enough to be inline for Ipsy's October box but I haven't received a reply from Topbox yet.
But luckily Beautybox5 doesn't have a waitlist so I guess I'll subscribe to this one till I can get other ones.

If you don't know about Beautybox5, there are different types of subscriptions.
If you subscribe to a yearly subscription the boxes add up to only $8.50 per box.
I just wanted to try 1 so I had to pay $12 along with $3 shipping.
Shipping is free for Americans but unfortunately I don't live in the states.
So after conversion cost it was approximately $16 CND.
But when I bought the September box they had a promotion for a free August box~!
I received the August box already but the September box is still in the mail (weird how they don't ship it together)

Now let's get the August BB5 review started :)

So this is the box it came in. Nothing spectacular but at least it fits in a mailbox.

This is the description card that explains the value of the samples.
As you can see I did a little math and calculated how much each sample cost (hopefully my math is correct)

Item #1: Purlisse Pur protect SPF 30
I've never used a pur-lisse product before but I've heard some pretty good things about it. I was shocked when I found out this sample was worth $16.17
Hopefully it will live up to it's reputation.

Item #2 La Fresh Travel Lite Makeup Remover Wipes
The value of this sample is $3.33. These wipes are convenient since they are in a little pack. I will definitely use them but I'm a bit disappointed seeing this in the box. I was hoping for something more exciting and unique but oh well. Hopefully September will be better.

Item #3 Novex Brazilian Keratin
I think this is a hair mask. The value of this trial product is $0.64!! Value aside, the instructions on the package states that you have to leave this in your hair for 25min. Sorry but "ain't nobody's got time  fo' that!" What am I suppose to do for 25min? Maybe if I ever take a long bath I can have this in my hair. Or maybe I will give this to my mom and persuade her to try it out. I don't want to spend 25min on a product that is only worth 30 cent (since I'm pretty sure I can use this pack at least twice if not more)

Item #4 Style Essentials Nail Polish
This is a full size nail polish that is priced at $7. I absolutely love the colour of this nail polish!!  I didn't have nail polish remover with me and school states I'm not allowed to have nail polish. So I painted some colour over a plastic CD cover. Clever right? So no BB5 did not ship fingers in the box... sorry if I scared some of you :P

Item #5 Nanacoco Lip Gloss
The last item in the box is a full size lip gloss with a retail value of $3.99. I'm not a huge lip gloss fan but this one has a pretty colour. It's also got a cute name called Secret Crush! I did a swatch on my hand to show you guys what it would look like. It's not too sticky and it has a nice shimmer to it. I'll definitely use this after I finish my other lip glosses.

Alright so my overall verdict for this box is....a PASS.
Although I had 2 full size products the value of the box is only at $31.13
It may seem like a pretty good value but if I take out the purlisse sample then the box is only worth $15 and that is less than what I paid for ($16)!
I only loved the nail polish (and I'm not even allowed to wear it) so this box didn't have a good value for me.
But nonetheless, this is a FREE box.
Hopefully September gets better.

So what did you guys get in your BB5 box?
