BeautyBox5 August 2014 Review

Hey guys,

This is my first time receiving a beauty box and doing a review.
Boxes are all the rage these days and so of course I have to jump onto the bandwagon :)
I actually wanted to try Topbox or IPSY but they both have waitlist.
I was lucky enough to be inline for Ipsy's October box but I haven't received a reply from Topbox yet.
But luckily Beautybox5 doesn't have a waitlist so I guess I'll subscribe to this one till I can get other ones.

If you don't know about Beautybox5, there are different types of subscriptions.
If you subscribe to a yearly subscription the boxes add up to only $8.50 per box.
I just wanted to try 1 so I had to pay $12 along with $3 shipping.
Shipping is free for Americans but unfortunately I don't live in the states.
So after conversion cost it was approximately $16 CND.
But when I bought the September box they had a promotion for a free August box~!
I received the August box already but the September box is still in the mail (weird how they don't ship it together)

Now let's get the August BB5 review started :)

So this is the box it came in. Nothing spectacular but at least it fits in a mailbox.

This is the description card that explains the value of the samples.
As you can see I did a little math and calculated how much each sample cost (hopefully my math is correct)

Item #1: Purlisse Pur protect SPF 30
I've never used a pur-lisse product before but I've heard some pretty good things about it. I was shocked when I found out this sample was worth $16.17
Hopefully it will live up to it's reputation.

Item #2 La Fresh Travel Lite Makeup Remover Wipes
The value of this sample is $3.33. These wipes are convenient since they are in a little pack. I will definitely use them but I'm a bit disappointed seeing this in the box. I was hoping for something more exciting and unique but oh well. Hopefully September will be better.

Item #3 Novex Brazilian Keratin
I think this is a hair mask. The value of this trial product is $0.64!! Value aside, the instructions on the package states that you have to leave this in your hair for 25min. Sorry but "ain't nobody's got time  fo' that!" What am I suppose to do for 25min? Maybe if I ever take a long bath I can have this in my hair. Or maybe I will give this to my mom and persuade her to try it out. I don't want to spend 25min on a product that is only worth 30 cent (since I'm pretty sure I can use this pack at least twice if not more)

Item #4 Style Essentials Nail Polish
This is a full size nail polish that is priced at $7. I absolutely love the colour of this nail polish!!  I didn't have nail polish remover with me and school states I'm not allowed to have nail polish. So I painted some colour over a plastic CD cover. Clever right? So no BB5 did not ship fingers in the box... sorry if I scared some of you :P

Item #5 Nanacoco Lip Gloss
The last item in the box is a full size lip gloss with a retail value of $3.99. I'm not a huge lip gloss fan but this one has a pretty colour. It's also got a cute name called Secret Crush! I did a swatch on my hand to show you guys what it would look like. It's not too sticky and it has a nice shimmer to it. I'll definitely use this after I finish my other lip glosses.

Alright so my overall verdict for this box is....a PASS.
Although I had 2 full size products the value of the box is only at $31.13
It may seem like a pretty good value but if I take out the purlisse sample then the box is only worth $15 and that is less than what I paid for ($16)!
I only loved the nail polish (and I'm not even allowed to wear it) so this box didn't have a good value for me.
But nonetheless, this is a FREE box.
Hopefully September gets better.

So what did you guys get in your BB5 box?

Spirits: Real or Fake?

So today I was talking to a coworker who claims can feel spirits. Although I don't agree with him 100%, we did agree on some things. 1. There are ghosts and also other forms of energy. My coworker claims that not all the energy forms he can feel are "ghosts". Some can be just negative emotions. This really surprised me. So there can be negative forms of energy just floating around? I've seen some movies that shows negative energy from people grouping together and moving around to absorb more. Perhaps these do exist. As for ghosts, well "souls" exist in almost all religion. The possibility of a soul wandering around being called a "ghost" is not uncommon. If you don't believe in religion then what about energy? Particles, atoms colliding, they all create energy. So there's energy that exist in humans. What happens when a human die. Does the energy simply just die out slowly with the human? What if the energy form actually move on to another dimension? So many possibilities. 2. Ghosts or spirits exist in a separate dimension but is still on Earth. This theory is pretty interesting and it also explains why we can't see them and vice versa. Apparently not all ghosts can see humans. They exist in a separate dimension so there is technically a barrier between us. Although like the "special" humans there are also "special" ghosts. Those special ones may be able to talk and see humans. I guess this is where things get dangerous. Communicating cross dimensions doesn't seem very safe. 3. Ghosts and gods thrive on belief. The more you get scared of a ghost, the stronger they get. Ghosts are a form of energy and so it makes sense for them to be able to consume the negative energy coming off from a person. If they are a bad ghost consuming negative energy strengthens them. As for gods, I feel like they are also a form of energy. Similar to a ghost, a good being consuming a good energy will be able to strengthen them self. So I guess the way to fight a ghost is to take on a religion and not be afraid of them. 4. Tarot cards are evil. A bit off topic but. Another friend of mine once told me tarot cards are evil. They are the works of the devil. My coworker also said they are not the best form of fortune telling and the more you practice the more energy the tarot cards receives. I'm not sure how credible this is but hey, I don't want to touch mine any time soon. 5. Destiny is predetermined? This is where there is some debate. My coworker said that everyone's life may be already predetermined but there is still a way to change it. By changing how you think you may be able to change life choices, thus changing your life. Ok, what if the changes in your life is predetermined too? I theorize that life is just like one of those "choose your own ending" books. There will be many choices and choosing option a may lead to path 1 while option b may lead to path 2. Perhaps the "destiny" is simply all the choices combined. It's a big book that has all the choices and consequences written down. There is a possibility that all the choices may lead to one final ending. But mathematically wise that's not very possible. Well any ways all the theories above is just my personal opinion. There is no actual scientific "proof" or any thing. So don't get offended or any thing. Read it, think about it, judge it.

Introduction

This is a personal blog about me.  Every week I'll post something that comes to my mind that interests me.  Every post is a little inspiration and motivation to change my self to a better me.  I'm always seen as a "princess" and I have to admit that I do act like one sometimes...  Hopefully this blog will inspire me to grow out of my "princess" attitudes or learn to control it for the better!
